LG has given a tantalising preview of some of the technology it will be premiering at this year’s IFA expo in Berlin, revealing the latest addition to its flat-panel TV range - the LEX8.
The LEX8 TV range features NANO Lighting Technology, which involves a thin printed film with miniscule dots positioned in front of a full array of LED’s – providing unmatched clarity. It works by dispersing light more evenly and effectively across the screen, making pictures clearer and smoother.
LG has also added an anti-reflection panel on the screen to ensure minimal reflection from external light sources impacts upon the picture quality.
“In creating our first television using NANO technology, LG is continuing to set new standards in TV technology and demonstrating once again that we’re pushing the envelope of home entertainment,” LG Home Entertainment president and CEO Simon Kang said.
“Just as difficult as it is to watch standard TV after experiencing high definition, people will resist going back to regular LED LCD TVs after viewing the LEX8,” he added.
The LEX8 offers improved localised dimming in both 2D and 3D thanks to its Micro Pixel Control. Micro Pixel Control manipulates individual LED blocks, and adds even greater range and life to colours. The LEX8 features LG’s TruMotion 400Hz, which delivers a super-fast processing rate for moving images making them almost blur-free.
Thanks to the NANO Lighting Technology and its FULL LED Panel, the LEX8 is only 0.88cm thick with a bezel just 1.25cm wide, making it the slimmest FULL LED TV in the world.
The LG LEX8 is NetCast enabled and can be connected to any DLNA-capable storage device or computer to allow users access to their home multimedia libraries.
