The results of the www.connectedaustralia.com website poll which asked people how much end of financial year sales had boosted their business have been collated.

Respondents were asked to select on a scale of 1 to 5 -  the lowest being ‘no boost’ and the highest being ‘significant boost’ - what effect ‘EOFYS’ was having on their business and 67% of people said the sales provided a ‘significant boost’ to their business.

While 33% of respondents said EOFYS provided a ‘moderately significant’ boost to their business; 0% of respondents said EOFYS provided an ‘extreme boost’; the same applied for the ‘very minimal boost’ option.

So we gather that all the energy directed into promoting and advertising the end of financial year sale is a worthwhile and lucrative endeavour for many businesses as evident in the impact it has.

Value added deals galore
This year retailers including Officeworks, Dick Smith, Harvey Norman and Bing Lee - to name a few -offered some very attractive deals for small businesses to upgrade their home office equipment.

There were a lot of value added deals including bundles which offered things like free informative classes, software and even how-to DVDs.

Over the past week or two Connected Australia has spoken to several retailers who are reporting surprisingly buoyant sales. Those retailers include Retravision Southern: “I can confirm that Retravision Southern experienced an increase in sales for the months of May and June,” CEO Tim Cockayne said.

Harvey Norman, BSR stores and Radio Rentals have reported similar solid performances in the last two months. Meantime the plethora of EOFYS sales may have also helped boost the May ABS retail turnover figures, up 1%.
