Joing the industry's suppliers and of course competitors, hundreds of Australians flooded into the first Costco store which opened today in Melbourne’s Docklands.
 
Along with the traditional groceries and general merchandise, the warehouse club retailer had a Sony 46-inch LCD televisions for $3399, Nikon D5000 Twin VR lens $1599.99 Pioneer Blu-ray player $469.99 and a Samsung 55" LED TV $4499.99.
 
Shoppers also made sure they visted the Docklands store yesterday yo join up for the $60 ticket that made them eligible for todays sales. While the industry awaits the impact of Costco's opening on the local market, its immediate impact is expected to be felt by the major supermarket chains.
