F&P.jpgFisher & Paykel (F&P) have shown their
 support to Aussie architects, sponsoring
the Architecture Australia’s 2009 AA Unbuilt Award, presented last week to Melbourne-based architect, Michael White.

The event was held last week at The Mint in Sydney. The award is sponsored by F&P’s Izona range of kitchen appliances, and Sophie Wardrop, F&P brand manager, presented the prize which comprised a cheque as well as an Izona CoolDrawer, the world’s first multi-temperature fridge, valued at $3,199.

“Fisher & Paykel is immensely proud of its association with Australia’s architectural community and we are delighted to be the inaugural sponsor of Architecture Australia’s prestigious AA Prize for Unbuilt Work,” Wardrop said.

“AA Unbuilt Award aims to recognise experimentation, speculation and invention through architectural design,” she added.

Wardrop said that the company had always supported excellence in design, and had adopted the philosophy, “all ideas are possible”, when developing the Izona range.

White’s project, ‘Landscape Urbanism – Port Moresby’, addresses the current housing crisis in Papua New Guinea’s capital. His award-winning submission demonstrated the importance of tangible architectural objectives, while examining the cultural relationship between Australia and PNG.
