The gaming console that has taken the world by storm, the Nintendo Wii, has been refreshed with a sleek colour change. Nintendo has revealed the new look black Wii console that is set to hit Australian shelves this week.

The black console functions exactly as its white predecessor does and includes the standard Wii Sports game. The difference is that it comes with a black Wiimote and nunchuck. The release is being supported by an eerie television commercial that premiered earlier this week, inviting consumers to “give into their dark side." The clever commercial was created by Leo Burnett and plays horror-movie style music while black “goo” engulfs the white Wii, turning it black.

Also released for sale this week are Wiimotes in blue and pink. The change in colour has not affected the price of the Wii. The unit will still retail for around $400 and the Wiimotes for $70
