Facebook users should be on the lookout for a new threat spreading across the social media platform, as McAfee warns consumers of the second Consumer Threat Alert the site has experienced.

The password-stealing virus has been seen before on the site, and has made its come back in the form of an email from Facebook.com, alerting the user that their password needs resetting.

“Once installed, the password stealer can potentially access any username and password combination on that computer, from your bank details to your email log-ins,” McAfee security expert, Dave Marcus said.

McAfeeb has been tracking the rise for the past 48 hours and predicts that it will continue to affect the 400 million plus users of the thriving social media tool.
