Slovenia’s biggest household appliance maker, Gorenje, has posted a first-half net profit of 4.9 million euros, compared with a significant loss for the same period last year.

For the first-half of 2009 Gorenje posted a loss of 18 million euros. The company said sales for the 2010 first-half rose from 568 million euros to 610 million euros.

According to Reuters, Gorenje is Slovenia’s second largest exporter. It acquired Swedish company Asko Appliances last month for 4.5 million euros as part of its efforts to strengthen its position in Scandinavia, North America and Australia.
