– Servis UK Ltd, part of the Antonio Merloni whitegoods group which also owns Asko of Sweden, has been put into administration.

The Antonio Merloni business is not connected to Merloni Elettrodomestici, now known as the Indesit Company and headed by Antonio's brother Vittorio Merloni. As reported in www.connectedaustralia.com last month, the Antonio Merloni group filed for Italy's equivalent of US Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, known as Marzano's Law.

The administrators for Servis UK Ltd are Robert Hunt and Anthony Barrell of PricewaterhouseCoopers. The business had 40 employees, most of whom have now been made redundant. However, Servis UK Ltd did not hold the Servis brand name either, that remains the property of the Antonio Merloni group.

Barrell told UK media that the Antonio Merloni Branch in Birmingham is the business that supplied Servis-branded white goods and carried out sales and marketing for the brand.

This, as far as he was aware, would continue to be the case depending on what transpired in Italy to the Antonio Merloni group.
