Harvey Norman Warehouse
Project Reload will involve every aspect of Harvey Norman’s operations.

Harvey Norman has released further details of its new global merchandising management system, dubbed Project Reload.

As previously reported by www.connectedaustralia.com, the company last week announced that it has commenced development of a core global merchandise management system to support its brands, namely Harvey Norman, Domayne, Joyce Mayne and the New Zealand chain Norman Ross.

The company said the new system will support the existing operating systems by providing one centralised overview of all merchandising-related information for its enterprises.

The new system is expected to deliver big cost savings as it will streamline the company’s operations from top to bottom, including procurement, distribution, real-time information reporting and promotions management.

Estimated to cost $100 million
It’s estimated that project Reload could cost the company as much $100 million to implement over the next two to three years, according to a report in the Australian Financial Review.

Suppliers and franchisees are expected to bear some of the costs associated with the new system, which as been likened to Woolworths’ Project Refresh and Myer’s Mymerch platforms.
