Samsung has announced a series of appointments as part of a major restructure of its marketing department.
Kurt Jovais, previously the company’s senior manager of corporate marketing, moves up to the new position of director of marketing.
According to a company statement: “Jovais will be working to further strengthen Samsung’s brand reputation and leadership position across all business divisions, as well as capitalise on Samsung’s reputation and investment of its sponsorship properties. This increases his ability to span across into an integrated marketing model for the business.”

Lambro Skropidis has been appointed as the new senior manager of corporate marketing, having joined Samsung from the FMCG sector working for companies such as Nestle, Colgate, Disney and Johnson & Johnson.
Skropidis will be responsible for “reinvigorating” Samsung’s corporate marketing division across public relations, sponsorship, online and retail marketing divisions.
New role for Leathan
In the AV business division Mark Leathan, previously general manager – white goods marketing, will now oversee all CE marketing as senior manager of CE marketing, where he will focus on “improving communication between marketing, sales and customers.”
In this role, Leathan will look after product management and product marketing for CE products, including the entire white goods and AV range.
New AV roles
Nick Segger has been appointed as the new AV marketing manager, replacing Rodney Rodriguez. Segger will be responsible for all flat-panel television and home theatre AV marketing activities. This includes developing, implementing and managing all above and below the line marketing activities working in conjunction with Samsung’s TV and HT product managers.
Sagar Dave, previously product manager DVS, has been promoted to digital audio visual (DAV) marketing manager, overseeing “innovative and experiential” ATL marketing activity for Samsung’s camcorders, Blu-ray and DVD players, MP3 and DSC products.
As the DAV product manager, Sagar Dave helped move Samsung’s MP3 business into the number two position in 2007, according to a company spokesperson.
Scott Saxton, previously with Sony, will fill the position vacated by Dave. |
